Pickup day questions

Straight answers from Instant Cash for Junk Cars about selling a junk car in Chicago: when we can come, how you're paid, the paperwork, and where the car can be parked. Didn't find yours? Ask us.

Timing

Can you pick up my junk car today?

Often, yes. A same-day pickup is often possible when you ask early, the car is reachable and the titled owner can sign. We give you the pickup time on the call. Same-day junk car removal explains what decides it.

When does the line run?

From 06:00 to 21:00, seven days a week, on Chicago (Central) time.

How soon will you call after I send the form?

Within 15 minutes, with an offer and a pickup time.

What pushes a pickup to the next day?

A late request, a car the truck can't reach, the owner not being there to sign, or paperwork that doesn't match. How to sell your car the same day shows how to avoid each one.

The offer and payment

How do I get paid?

At pickup, when the car is collected. Pick Cash App, Zelle, another digital payment or cash when we call; you're paid before you sign the title over. How you get paid has the detail.

Is the towing free?

Yes. Towing is free, and no towing charge comes out of the offer.

Is there a clock on the offer?

No. The number we give you has no time limit.

How much will I get for my junk car?

It depends on the year, make, model, condition and what's missing. Send those details and you'll have a real number on the call, not a guess from a web page.

Can the offer change at the curb?

Only if the car isn't what was described. If that happens, the driver explains what's different and you can say no.

The title and other papers

What if the title is missing?

Start anyway: pick "No" or "I have registration only" on the form, then tell us which papers you have: a bill of sale, the registration, an insurance card. Illinois rules decide what counts for a scrap sale, and we'll confirm it for your car on the call.

What do I need at pickup?

The title (or the papers agreed on the call), a photo ID that matches it, and the keys if you have them. What happens at pickup goes through the visit in order.

Can someone else hand over the car?

Yes, but the person named on the title still signs it and shows a matching ID. Here's how to set that up.

My car failed its Illinois emissions test. Will you buy it?

Yes, as it is. Selling a failed-emissions car covers the sale and what to tell the Secretary of State afterwards.

Street, alley or garage

Can you pick up a car parked on the street or in an alley?

Yes, as long as the truck can stop beside or in front of it. Street and alley pickup lists what to tell us.

Which lots can the truck load from: shops, apartments, HOAs?

Yes. Get the shop's or the lot manager's OK for the truck to come in, and tell us on the call.

Can you take several cars in one visit?

Yes. One pickup can take more than one vehicle. List them all when we call.

Do you buy trucks, vans and SUVs?

Yes, in any condition: fire-damaged, flooded, wrecked, stripped or simply dead.

Which areas do you cover?

Chicago, with pickup notes for the West Side, plus the Chicagoland suburbs including Joliet and Aurora, and Northwest Indiana as far as Gary.

Will you take a car that won't start?

Yes. Tell us on the call if it doesn't start, has no keys or has flat tires, so the driver comes ready for it.
