Instant Cash for Junk Cars

How to sell your car the same day

You can sell a junk car in Chicago and have it gone the same day when four things line up: you ask early, the paperwork is in hand, the tow truck can reach the car, and the person who signs is there. Instant Cash for Junk Cars can often pick up the same day. Here's how to make sure nothing on your side pushes it to tomorrow.

How do you sell a junk car the same day?

  1. Ask for an offer early in the day.
  2. Have the title ready, or tell us which papers you have if there’s no title.
  3. Keep a photo ID that matches that paperwork.
  4. Make sure a tow truck can reach the car.
  5. Be there to sign, or have the titled owner there.
  6. Mention anything that could slow the pickup when you ask.

Do those six things and a same-day sale is often possible. Skip one and it can slide to tomorrow. Here’s why each one matters, in the order the day actually runs. For the full day on one page, see how the pickup day runs.

Ask early

This one matters more than the rest put together. Pickups run from 06:00 to 21:00 every day, so a request in the morning gives the day room: the call, a pickup window, a driver on the way. A request at dinner time may still work, but it may not, and we’ll tell you which when we call.

You don’t need to have everything sorted before you ask. Send the form first, then find the title while you wait for our call. We call within 15 minutes.

Have the paperwork in hand

The fastest pickup is one where the title is in a drawer you can open. The form asks whether you have it (yes, no, or registration only). Your answer decides what we talk through on the call:

  • Title in hand: the simplest case.
  • No title: we’ll still work through it with you. Before a pickup time is set, list the papers you’re holding (bill of sale, registration, insurance card). Illinois rules set which ones count for a scrap sale, and we’ll confirm yours on the call.
  • Registration only: say so on the form. It’s one of the papers we’ll check against the Illinois rules on the call.

Whatever you have, add a photo ID that matches the name on it. That’s the part people forget when a partner or a parent is the one on the title.

Make sure the truck can reach the car

A car that can’t be reached can’t leave today. Before the pickup time:

  • Move any car that’s boxing it in.
  • Open the gate or the garage if it’s behind one.
  • Dig it out if it’s snowed in.
  • Tell us if it’s on a one-way street, in a narrow alley, or nose-in against a fence.

The street and alley pickup page has the full list for cars parked on the block or in back.

Be there to sign

The person named on the title signs it over at the curb. If that’s you, be there at the pickup time. If it’s someone else, or you’ll be at work, plan it now. Who has to sign, and how to set it up when you can’t be there, covers the common cases.

Mention the things that slow a pickup

Tell us on the call if the car has no keys, flat tires, a locked steering wheel, or missing parts. None of that has to kill a same-day pickup. Finding out at the curb is what does.

What pushes a pickup to tomorrow

Here’s what can push it, and how to head each one off:

What happened What to do next time
The request came in late Ask in the morning, even before the title is found
The truck couldn’t reach the car Clear the space and open gates before the pickup time
The owner wasn’t there to sign Book the pickup around the owner’s schedule
The paperwork didn’t match Have the title (or the papers agreed on the call) and a matching ID ready

Once the truck has gone

Tell the Illinois Secretary of State you no longer own the car. The Illinois Air Team FAQ points to the Seller’s Report of Sale form for this. It keeps emissions test notices from coming to you for a car you’ve sold.

That’s the whole list. When you’re ready, start from same-day cash for junk cars in Chicago.

Questions people ask

Can I sell a car the same day without a title?

The title can be missing and we can still help. Pick "No" on the form, then have your papers handy: a bill of sale, the registration, an insurance card. Which of them count for a scrap sale is up to Illinois rules, and we check yours on the call. Settling that early is what keeps today possible.

What paperwork is needed to sell a junk car?

The title and a photo ID that matches the name on it. If the title is gone, tell us which papers you have instead; Illinois rules decide which ones count for a scrap sale, and we sort that out on the call.

How should I get the car ready for the tow?

Take out everything that's yours, find the keys if you can, and clear the space around the car so a tow truck can pull up beside or in front of it.

What if you can't come today?

We'll tell you on the call and give you the earliest time we can come. You're not locked in until you've signed and been paid.
